Small companies are at the core of Canadian communities. These businesses work as a backbone for Canada’s economy. Due to this, Canadians have always been supporting their regional businesses all through the COVID-19 pandemic, through actions like ordering take-out, and purchasing gift cards. Additionally, civic-minded organizations having means and resources are also pitching in to help these businesses.
To further help small enterprises recover from the economic downturn caused by COVID-19 The Canadian Chamber of Commerce has reportedly announced a new support program for small Canadian enterprises, the Canadian Business Resilience Network Small Business Relief Fund. This fund would provide small businesses spread across Canada from coast to coast through grants of over $10,000 to support their recovery efforts in these trying times.
The grants would be on application basis, and only those applicants that would accurately show how these funds would help their businesses, employees, as well as their communities would be eligible for receiving this funding.
The new initiative, through the initiative taken by Salesforce, would support 62 small businesses across Canada in their respective recovery efforts and increase their resilience, for a sum of $620,000 in funding. Companies can use the allocated $10,000 grants to overcome this slump and recover by procuring safety and PPEs for their staff, paying salaries, paying for the key measures needed to adapt the business models to COVID-19’s economic impacts amid other major priorities.
The CEO and President of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, Perrin Beatty stated that in the coronavirus crisis, the organization’s aim is to support as many companies as possible, so that they would stay in business and remain open. Owners of small businesses often put all they have in their respective businesses and the grants would help them with a little breathing space.
Beatty further added that good people, combining their efforts against the pandemic, is how people across Canada have managed to face the crisis, and the organization along with Salesforce are working on the same goal, following their lead, helping one company at a time.
